My Roots Foundation is thrilled to present the “Inauguration of Igbo Traditional Marriage Council in the Diaspora.” This 5-day event is dedicated to exploring the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo community, focusing on the importance of Igbo marriage traditions in fostering happy and resilient homes.

Thursday, 1st August 2024: Conference/Townhall

Theme: "Igbo Marriage Institution: Key to a Happy Home" Venue: Council Chambers Toronto City Hall- Toronto (100 Queen Street Toronto) Time: 10am An enlightening day featuring a Symposium / Townhall with the distinguished Guest Speakers, sharing valuable insights on the significance of Igbo marriage institution and its traditions. A lecture on the importance of using the movie industry to document, preserve and showcase our tradition will be delivered at the event.

Friday, 2nd August 2024: Toronto City Tour

Greater Toronto Area An exciting tour to the CN Tower downtown Toronto and other historical sites in the GTA, setting the stage for a week of cultural celebration and collaboration.

Saturday, 3rd August 2024: Inauguration Night

Venue: Hillcrest Event Center Toronto / Vaughan (17 Vinyl Ct, Woodbridge, ON L4L 4A3) A Spectacular evening featuring inauguration of the members of the IGBO MARRIAGE COUNCIL IN DIASPORA, and a display of rich Igbo cultural dances and performances. The event will be graced by the Special Guest of Honour, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, the Honourable Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Hon. Michael D. Ford. Chief host for the night will be H.E. Amb. Adeyinka Asekun, Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada, and the Event Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Mbulu.

Sunday, 4th August 2024: Thanksgiving Service

Venue: Igbo Anglican Church Mississauga (1170 Tynegrove Rd, Mississauga, ON L4W 3B2) A day of spiritual reflection and thanksgiving, celebrating the newly inaugurated Igbo Traditional Marriage Council and seeking blessings for the journey ahead.

Monday, 5th August 2024: Tour to Niagara Falls

A day of relaxation and camaraderie as attendees embark on a scenic tour to the world-renowned Niagara Falls, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange and building lasting connections.

 

Accommodation: Attendees will enjoy the comfort and convenience of staying at the Four Points by Sheraton Vaughan and Staybridge Suites Toronto – Vaughan South.
